Sachin star attraction at Kolkata Marathon

Sachin Tendulkar will be the face of the second IDBI Federal Life Insurance Kolkata Full Marathon on February 4.

Tendulkar will also be present to motivate the runners at the start and finish points, an announcement said today.

Over 8,000 participants will compete across four categories in the full marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K races, carrying a prize purse of Rs 10 lakh.

The full marathon will witness 800 runners, with the flag-off at 5am, followed by 1500 runners participating in the half marathon at 6am.

Like last year, the Red Road will serve as both the start and finish point for the marathon as the runners will pass through city's iconic Eden Gardens, Victoria Memorial, Kolkata High Court, St Paul's Cathedral among others.
 

Thousand army men and 1000 police personnel will also run the race.

Pooja Jain from Kolkata will run in a saree aiming to break the Guinness Book of World Record.

Enthusiastic runners who missed registration deadline can register at the Expo at Kolkata Police Athletic Club, Sergeants Institute, Maidan Tent, Near Eden Gardens from 10.30am to 6pm on February 2 and 3.
