The opposition today demanded the sacking of Maharashtra Advocate General Shrihari Aney for violation of oath by speaking against the spirit of the oath of secrecy and "insulting the 105 martyrs" who fought for united Maharashtra.

"...Aney has thus violated the oath of secrecy by publicly speaking on referendum on separate Vidarbha," Leader of Opposition in Legislative Assembly, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, told a press conference here ahead of the beginning of winter session of the state Legislature tomorrow.

Patil said there seems to be some a conspiracy by the BJP government, prompting AG to speak on referendum on separate Vidarbha.

He objected to Aney's remarks about the 105 martyrs of United Maharashtra during the formation of Maharashtra in 1957.

Aney at a book release function here yesterday said that there should be a referendum on separate Vidarbha and if it is more than 51 per cent, the government should create Vidarbha and claimed that more than 80 of the population in Vidarbha was in favour of a separate statehood.

Leader of opposition in Legislative Council Dhananjay Munde was also present at the conference.
