Slamming the ruling Samajwadi Party for its failure to check the violence in Muzaffarnagar district, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) today said the President should dismiss the Akhilesh Yadav government in the state as it was unable to ensure the safety of the majority community.

"There is a total collapse of the law and order situation in the state.

"The SP government has been engaging in a policy of appeasement while riots are breaking out in the state," alleged the saffron outfit's national spokesperson, Prakash Sharma.

"When VHP recently tried to hold its 84-Kosi Yatra of sages in Ayodhya, the state administration had ensured there was a heavy deployment of police to foil that attempt.

"But now that there is trouble in Muzaffarnagar, the SP government finds itself unable to react," charged Sharma.

Army has been called in to control the situation in the riot-hit areas of Muzaffarnagar where the toll since August 27 in incidents of communal violence has now touched 21.
