Opening front against his own government, Chief Parliamentary Secretary and SAD MLA Inderbir Singh Boloria today staged a protest alleging that his constituency was being neglected by the Punjab Government.
Addressing a gathering, Baloria, SAD MLA from Amritsar South constituency, alleged that no development work was being done in his area which forced him to come out on roads to protest.
He was joined by scores of people of his constituency here today.
Boloria also said that a big garbage dump at Bhagtanwala in his area was creating nuisance, since the garbage of the entire district was being dumped there.
He demanded immediate shifting of the garbage dump from his constituency, threatening that otherwise he will continue protesting against his own government.
Without naming anyone, he alleged that one of the ministers in the state Cabinet was behind the "conspiracy to stop all the developmental works in my constituency."
Notably, BJP MLA from Amritsar (East) Navjot Kaur Sidhu is known for her outbursts against the Akalis on various issues from time to time.
A few days ago, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal along with his brother-in-law Bikram Majitha, who is also Cabinet Minister in the SAD-BJP Government, visited the garbage dump site and ordered to raise big walls around the site. However, Boloria was ignored and not taken to the spot.
However, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Pardeep Sabharwal said today that in the next two months, the Bhagtanwala garbage dump will present a clean and green look and trees would also be planted at this place.
Sabharwal said that within next two months, a green belt would be developed in the area and the problem of foul smell emitting from the garbage dump would be solved permanently.
He told that on Sunday, the Deputy CM had directed the Corporation officials to prepare a detailed plan in this regard, after which a project was prepared by Tuesday and submitted with the Deputy CM office at Chandigarh on Wednesday.
After discussions, an amount of Rs 9.33 crore was then issued for this work and the staff was directed to complete the work in next two months time, he said.
