The SAD-BJP alliance would contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls on development plank, Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said today.

"The SAD-BJP alliance's sole agenda is development and it will contest the Lok Sabha polls on development plank alone," he said.

He claimed the Congress was trying to woo the voters with "false propaganda" regarding the state's fiscal health and development works, "but the people know the reality and would vote for NDA in the upcoming parliamentary elections".

Punjab is set for massive progress in the next two years with infusion of infrastructure projects worth Rs 3,600 crore in both rural and urban areas, he said.

Sukhbir said in the first phase 52 towns would witness an improvement in civic amenities with Rs 3,600 crore being earmarked for potable water, sewage, sewerage treatment plants, concrete roads and street lights.

Having made the country self-reliant in food production, Sukhbir said, Punjab has now achieved the unique distinction of being self-reliant in power.

He said the recently-held investment and agriculture summits in Mohali had attracted big industrialists to the state, and set the state on the path to emerge as an ultimate industrial and IT destination.
