A joint delegation of Akali Dal and BJP will meet Governor V P Singh Badnore Tuesday to apprise him of the "deteriorating" law and order situation in Punjab and seek corrective steps.
The delegation will be led by SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and Punjab BJP chief Shwait Malik.
SAD spokesman Daljeet Singh Cheema said, "the situation is getting worse each day and the Congress government is busy in petty politicking, enjoying spoils of office and its ministers are busy in one-upmanship with each other which has left them with no time to concentrate on the of problems of the state".
Cheema in a release said the SAD and BJP stood for peace and harmony and had worked hard to bring normalcy after a turbulent period and were deeply concerned at the emerging trends and "separatist making desperate attempts to regain ground".
"What is more shocking is that the ruling Congress party (have) turned comrade in arms to such forces. All this portends a serious threat to communal harmony in the state which remained most peaceful state during the last decade during SAD-BJP regime," he claimed.
Former minister Cheema alleged tensions were mounting in the state in the run up to the zila parishad and panchayat samiti polls because under the rule of Congress government, the officials had turned "biased and profusely discriminating" against non- Congress candidates.
"The polling has already been totally vitiated by officials by rejecting large number of nominations without any reason, especially of the Akalis, and subsequently Akali nominees have been threatened, coerced and obstructed," he claimed.
