"Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's claim that Punjab will be power surplus has proved to be hollow. The government is ill-prepared to deal with power demand during summer. It has miserably failed to provide eight-hour power supply to farmers and is responsible for the present power crisis in the state," Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh said here.

"Six hour power cut in domestic sector, imposition of two weekly offs on industry and erratic power supply to farmers speaks of the poor performance of the power department, the portfolio of which is with the CM himself," he said.

Meanwhile, a senior SAD leader said the power situation is much better in Punjab than what the former Chief Minister is trying to portray.
