A day after sweeping the civic polls, ruling SAD-BJP alliance have decided to nominate three mayors each for the six Municipal Corporations (MCs) of Punjab.

Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma said the mayors for Pathankot, Hoshiarpur and Phagwara Municipal Corporations will be from the saffron party, while SAD's mayor will be from Mohali, Bathinda and Moga.

On the victory of the alliance in the civic polls, Sharma said that the people of the state had voted for development, peace and communal harmony.

He said that "by and large the Akali-BJP alliance had worked well except a couple of places, including Tarn Tarn".

Sharma said that both the parties had tried their best at all the levels to resolve differences at Tarn Taran, but it failed.

Ahead of civic polls, some Akali activists allegedly thrashed BJP's Cabinet minister Anil Joshi's younger brother Raja at Tarn Taran over filing of nominations for the wards.

The elections were held for a total of 300 Wards in the six Municipal Corporations. Bathinda, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Pathankot, Mohali and Moga had 50 Wards each.

The SAD-BJP alliance won four of the six Municipal Corporation seats.
