Congress today alleged that total chaos was prevailing in Punjab government with the two alliance partners SAD and BJP working against each other.

Addressing a meeting of party workers during his ongoing tour of all 117 Assembly constituencies, Punjab PCC chief Partap Singh Bajwa said while SAD was imposing heavy taxes on businessmen and others and creating a dent in its alliance partner's vote bank, BJP was demanding that SAD withdraw the free power facility given to farmers.

The current alliance between SAD and BJP was not in the interest of people, he said.

The statement by SAD president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal that decisions like imposing the e-trip system of tax collection, property tax, hefty fees on regularisation of illegal colonies and unprecedented hike in power tariff were taken with the consent of BJP, shows that the alliance was fleecing the common people, Bajwa alleged.

Terming the alliance government as "most corrupt and directionless" the PCC president said, "Badal family governs Punjab primarily to serve its own interests ahead of SAD's, while the people of Punjab come a distant third.
