A meeting of the Core Committee of the Shiromani Akali Dal today reviewed the procurement scenario for the current paddy season in the state.

The meeting was presided over by SAD Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal and was attended among others by the party patron- in-chief and the Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Parkash Singh Badal.

Giving details of the meeting, SAD General Secretary Harcharan Bains said here that the meeting was called to get direct, ground-zero feed-back on different matters related to the procurement of paddy in the current season.

Sukhbir asked members to maintain a constant vigil on different aspects and problems likely to arise in the way of smooth procurement of the crop and to keep both the party high ups and the Government fully apprised of all issues in detail for prompt and effective governmental response.

"We are determined to purchase and lift every grain of paddy from markets across the state. While the government machinery is fully geared up for the operation, the party on its will leave nothing to chance to ensure that farmers in the state do not encounter any problem in a hassle free disposal of their crop," said Sukhbir presiding over the meeting.

He said that the Punjab Council of Ministers had already taken some vital policy decisions for effectively ruling any hiccups or last minute hurdles in the path of paddy being brought to the markets by the farmers and its procurement without any delay.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, who has been holding regular meetings of the concerned departments in this regard, told senior colleagues in the party that all arrangements for the operation have been put in place.

The Government machinery has been put in top gear for smooth procurement and prompt lifting of the crop from various markets in the state.
