Shiromani Akali Dal has lined up a series of public programmes in the build up to next year's Assembly election even as party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has been entrusted with taking key decisions including finalising the party candidates.

The decisions were taken in the meeting of the party's core committee today chaired by the party patron in Chief Parkash Singh Badal at his residence.

All the SAD and BJP senior leaders will jointly address public gatherings at these functions.

"A war memorial will be inaugurated in Amritsar on October 23 in which the country's elite from the armed forces including major generals, former chiefs of staff, decorated officers and soldiers will take part," said General Secretary Harcharan Singh Bains.

"This will be followed by the inauguration of the Heritage Pilgrimage (Virasat Darshan) around the Golden Temple Complex on October," he added.

The state-level Punjab Day function will be held in Amritsar with a massive state level rally at Ranjit Avenue.

Apart from the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister, senior central BJP leaders are also expected to take part in the function during which homage will be paid to warriors of the Punjabi Suba movement.

The Jang-e-Azadi Memorial, a monument to pay tribute to the warriors of the country's freedom movement, will be inaugurated on November 6.

A huge gathering of devotees will pay homage to the tenth master Guru Gobind Singh on his 350th Parkash Utsav on November 27 at Sri Anandpur Sahib.

On the political front, the SAD will organise a massive rally at Moga on December 6, birthday of the Akali stalwart and Punjab CM Parkash Singh Badal.
