SAD's Sarabjit Singh Makkar wealthiest candidate in Jalandhar

Shiromani Akali Dal's Sarabjit Singh Makkar has emerged as the wealthiest candidate in Jalandhar district in which elections for its nine assembly seats would be held on February 4, according to the affidavit filed before the election commission.

Makkar, SAD candidate from Jalandhar cantt, has shown movable and immovable assets worth Rs 60 crore while liabilities worth Rs 2.75 crore. He has listed farming and business as his profession.

According to the affidavit, Congress' candidate from Jalandhar Central assembly seat Rajinder Beri does not own a house or car. He lives in the house of his wife who is a councillor.
 

Beri, who owns an oil tanker, has shown movable assets worth Rs 43 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 48 lakh. His wife's movable properties have been estimated at Rs 19.62 lakh and immovable properties at Rs 1.05 crore.

BJP candidate from Jalandhar North K D Bhandari, a two-time MLA, has disclosed his movable properties worth Rs 31 lakh, movable assets in the name of his wife worth Rs 24 lakh and 15 lakh worth of movable assets in the name of his dependants.

Congress candidate from Jalandhar cantt and former national hockey team captain Pargat Singh has disclosed movable assets worth Rs 1.39 crore and immovable assets worth Rs 55 lakh.

AAP candidate from Jalandhar Cantonment H S Walia has shown movable assets worth Rs 72.70 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 2.56 crore. He has also disclosed movable assets worth Rs 63.8 lakh and immovable assets worth Rs 29.33 lakh in his wife's name.
