Noted theatre personality, film maker and Kannada and Tulu writer Sadananda Suvarna has been chosen for this year's Karavali award for his outstanding contributions in various fields.
A jury headed by Prof B A Viveka Rai selected the playwright, theatre director, film producer and director for the honour, a press release here said.
The award, carrying a citation made of copper and silver and a memento etched with the logo of the Utsava, would be presented to him during the Karavali Utsava on December 31, Rai said.

Born in 1931 at Mulki, Suvarna has written many plays including Abhagini, Vishama Ghalige, Kulagowrava, Kaddavane Kalla, Kannu Tereyitu, Bhagna Mandira, Halladinda Haadige and Roopa Darshana.
He had translated plays from Bengali and Tulu to Kannada and from Kannada to Tulu. He also has to his credit an anthology of short stories and a novel in Kannada.
The movie 'Kubi Mattu Iyala' directed by him had won international awards, while Ghatashraddha, produced by him had won a Swarna Kamal (Golden Lotus) award.
