The 36-year-old Sage, son of Hollywood action star Sylvester Stallone, was found dead in his home on Friday of an apparent overdose, the TMZ reported.

The website quoted law inforcement sources saying that the budding filmmaker was dead for three days or more before his body was found by the housemaid.

The reason Sage was not found until that long was because he was reportedly living like a hermit and would spend days in his room. Sage had instructed the housekeeper not to enter and not even knock on the door.

Drug overdose is suspected as officials found "numerous empty pill bottles" in the area where his body was found.

His room was reportedly filled with junk such as cigarette butts, beer and soda cans, and food. The room was "disgusting and reeked of various smells. A numerous amount of pill bottles were found in two drawers."

Sage famously made his film debut alongside his father in the 1990 movie "Rocky 5" where he played the role of Rocky's son Robert Balboa.
