Pacer Alok Sahoo grabbed five wickets for 39 runs as Odisha recorded a narrow three-run victory over Vidarbha in their Vizay Hazare Trophy one-day cricket match here today.

Electing to bat, Odisha put up 226 for nine with number seven batsman Arabind Singh top-scoring with a 64-ball 62 while Biplab Samantaray contributing 37. Sahoo also contributed a useful 35 off 38 balls.

Chasing a modest target of 227, Vidarbha were all out for 223 in 47.2 overs. Ravi Jangid's 97 went in vain as Vidarbha fell an agonising three runs short in the Group C match.

Vidarbha's top order crumbled to 59 for 5 in the 17th over but Jangid and Akshay Karnewar (72) revived the side's hopes with a 157-run partnership for the sixth wicket.

Sahoo turned the match Odisha's way, dismissing Karnewar and then taking two wickets in his next over to reduce Vidarbha to 220 for 9 in the 46th over. Two overs later, Samantray dismissed Jangid to end Vidarbha's innings.

Odisha secured four points from the win while Vidarbha got none.
