Public sector steel major SAIL is looking at diversifying its offerings with value-added and ready-to-use products and will introduce new and niche brands, its chairman P K Singh said today.
"With stabilisation of most of our new and modernised mills, we are diversifying our product basket with several value-added and ready-to-use products. SAIL will introduce several new and niche brands to its product basket," a company statement quoted him as saying in his address to about 500 employees of local SAIL units at Kolkata today.
The company is also scaling up its presence in global markets through exports.

"Ten per cent of SAIL's saleable steel production will be targeted for new markets overseas, including Africa, Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh etc. SAIL is also streamlining its channel management to address the needs of customers in untapped geographies," he added.
SAIL top management has been visiting company units and offices across the country as it aims at clearly conveying its top priorities and identifying main issues at plant level.
The chairman had earlier also visited SAIL's Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) in West Bengal and Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand.
