Saina and Co to take on Indonesia in quarterfinals tomorrow

Indian women's team, led by world No 8 Saina Nehwal, will take on three-time champions Indonesia in the quarterfinals of the Uber Cup Badminton Tournament at the Siri Fort sports complex here tomorrow.

Indian eves had defeated Canada, Hong Kong and Thailand to remain unbeaten in the league stage and top group Y.

12 times champions, China will take on England, who have been the runners up in 1963 and 1984.

2010 Champions, Korea will lock horns with Thailand, while five-time champions Japan will be up against Denmark, who finished second three times in 1957, 160 and 2000.

India will be mainly dependent on Olympic bronze medallist Saina and World Championship bronze winner, P V Sindhu and Commonwealth Games gold medallist pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa to get it across Indonesian eves tomorrow.
 

For their Third singles, India have played P C Thulashi, who has won two of her three matches.

While for the second doubles, India might once again ask Saina and Sindhu to pair up after they combined together for the first time against Thailand on Tuesday.

Indonesia too have some good singles players in Lindaweni Fanetri (world No 23), Bellaetrix Manuputty (world No 24) and Adrianti Firdasari (World No 82).

Among their doubles pair, Indonesia, who finished second in Group X, have depended more on world No 56 combo of Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah and Suci Rizky Andini and world number 9 pair of Nitya Krishinda Maheswari and Greysia Polii.

They also have world No 10 pair of Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth and Rizki Amelia Pradipta in their ranks.

In Thomas Cup, China will take on Thailand, Japan will square off aganst France, Denmark will lock horns with Malaysia and Korea will be up against Indonesia.
