The All India Inter Sainik Schools Sports and Cultural Meet was inaugurated today at Sainik School Kazhakootam here.
Air Vice Marshal G Amar Prasad Babu, Senior Officer in Charge Administration of Southern Air Command, Akkulam, who was the Chief Guest, declared the meet open. Five schools are competing for top honours in Volleyball, Football, Basketball and Hockey, a Defence press release said.
The winners at zonal level will represent the Zones at the Inter-Zonal to be held next month.
The champions in Inter-zonal Football will represent the Sainik Schools Society at the prestigious Subroto Mukerjee Football tournament in Delhi.
Besides games, competitions are also held in debate, quiz and cultural activities.
The meet will conclude on July 25.
