Karnataka government's ambitious project 'Sakala', which aims to provide guaranteed services to the people of the state within a stipulated time frame, has received the 2013-14 National e-Governance award.
The Karnataka Department of Administrative Reforms won the silver award in the category of Outstanding Performance in Citizen Centric Service Delivery.
Kerala Governor, Nikhil Kumar, in the presence of Union Minister, V Narayanasamy presented the silver award to the sakala team headed by Shalini Rajneesh at a function here this evening.

Sakala, which means 'in time', provides 419 services, said to be the largest ever offered to people in any state in the country. The services includes issuance of birth and death certificates, ration cards, among others.
Two other projects of Karnataka government have also received the 2013-14 National e-Governance awards.
Karnataka's Revenue department won the gold award in the Incremental Innovation in Existing project for its Electronics Integration of 'BHOOMI' with stakeholders.
The Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing corporation under the state government won the gold award in the Innovative use of ICT by state PSU for its GPS Mobile baed Housing Monitoring and Fund release system.
Among the other award winners were Centre for Railway Information System, which won the gold award in Excellence in Government Process Re-enigneering for its Control Office Application, while the Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Affairs of Gujarat government received the silver award under the category for its Barcoded Ration card and Biometric Food coupon.
The Thrissur district administration won the gold award in SAND-System for Attumanal Neutral distribution.
