A 38-year-old sales executive was today robbed of Rs 29 lakh by three armed bike-borne miscreants in the Kalyanpuri area of east Delhi, police said.

According to police, the incident took place at around 12 noon when Rajesh Sinha, who works as a sales executive with a Noida-based firm, was headed to his office.

Sinha told police that a bike with three riders waylaid his car and he was asked to pull up at the Gazipur traffic signal.

Police said that the three men then got off the bike and asked him to open the door. When Sinha refused, the accused smashed one of the car windows.

"One of the accused took out a knife and threatened Sinha. They then snatched the bags that he was carrying and fled the spot," a police officer said, adding that there is a likelihood that someone who knew about the presence of the cash in the car was involved in the robbery.

A team has been formed to investigate the case and nab the robbers, police said. Footage from a CCTV camera at the site of the crime is being scanned to identify the accused, they added.
