Sales Tax inspector in ACB net for receiving bribe of Rs 48000

A Sales Tax inspector was today caught red-handed by the anti-corruption bureau (ACB) sleuths while accepting a bribe of Rs 48,000.

The official, Ranjan Narayan Lahamage working in the Sales Tax accounts department at Income-tax Bhawan here was arrested while receiving the amount at his office, an ACB release said.

A trap was laid following complaint of an official of a private company 'Blue cheap control Pvt Ltd Company' after Lahamage allegedly demanded 10 per cent of income-tax refund of Rs 4,89,599 from the complainant, it said.
