Salgaocar FC have signed a year-long deal with 28-year-old Australian Calvin Mbarga.

The Cameroon U20 International Calvin has spent the last five years in Australia scoring over 100 league goals, a club official said.

Calvin started his playing career at Unisport Bafang in Cameroon followed by a two-year stint in the United Arab Emirates, where he donned the colours of Baniyas SC and Al-Jazira.

In 2010, he moved to Australia and has played for some of the leading clubs in the South Australian Super Leagues and the National Premier Leagues Victoria, including Western Strikers, Adelaide Blue Eagles and Hume City.

He last played for Northcote City before signing for the Greens.

"Firstly, I am delighted to be in India, a country I have heard so much about. I am grateful to the management of Salgaocar FC for this opportunity. I have heard a lot about the I-League and I am looking forward to giving it my best and hopefully bringing honours to the club. I am excited and raring to go," Calvin was quoted as saying in an official release.

Club's General Secretary Adlear D'Cruz said Calvin would be a good addition to the squad.

"We have been monitoring Calvin closely over the past year and believe he will be a good addition to the squad.

"Besides, having acquired his Australian citizenship, he fills the Asian quota for us," D'Cruz said.
