Sam Rajappa, Sarat Mishra to get Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award

Veteran journalists Sam Rajappa and Sarat Mishra have been jointly chosen for the 'Raja Ram Mohan Roy Award', presented by the Press Council of India, for their outstanding contribution towards journalism, the council announced today.

The award will be presented on November 16 on the occasion of the National Press Day.

In a statement here, the PCI also announced other winners of the 'National Awards for Excellence in Journalism 2017'. Shalini Nair of The Indian Express has been chosen for the award of 'Rural Journalism and Developmental Reporting'.

K Sujith of Mangalam Daily (Kannur, Kerala) and freelancer Chitrangada Choudhury have been jointly selected in the category of 'Investigative Journalism', the statement said.
 

C K Thanseer of Chandrika Daily (Calicut, Kerala) and Vijay Verma of PTI are jointly selected in the category of 'Photo Journalism- Single News Picture', while J Suresh of Malayala Manorama has bagged the award in the category of 'Photo Journalism - Photo Feature'.

Gireesh Kumar MP of Times of India (Kochi, Kerala) has been selected for the award in the category of best newspapers art, covering cartoons, caricatures and illustrations.
