Hollywood stars Andy Samberg, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele took pot-shots at Republican party front-runner Donald Trump at the 2015 Emmy Awards.

Samberg, who hosted the award show, started things off during his monologue by taking on Trump, reported Entertainment Weekly.

"Donald Trump is running for president, to the delight of uncles everywhere. I've got to say, sure Donald Trump 'seems' racist," the "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" star said.

After winning outstanding comedy actress for "Veep", Louis-Dreyfus opened by reading a quote purportedly from her Washington, DC, satire.

"What a great honour it must be for you to honour me tonight... Sorry, Donald Trump said that," she said, adding it is getting tougher to mock politics given the current environment.

Comedian Peele, while introducing outstanding reality competition series said, "There is one category of TV that allows us as a society to sit back and enjoy the simple spectacle of reality."

His partner, Key replied, "A strange reality, where people can't seem to say two words without throwing each other under the bus."

Peele then added, "A reality where a panel of millionaires fight like sharks to be chosen by average middle class Americans... But enough about the Republican National Convention, let's get to the award.
