Sand mafia tries to kill revenue inspector in Vizianagaram

The driver of a tractor carrying illegally mined sand tried to kill Pusapatirega revenue inspector B Muralikrishna after he tried to stop the vehicle near Konayyapalem under Pusapatirega police station limits today.

According to the police, Muralikrishna went to Divalasagedda where illegal sand mining is rampant to stop illegal transportation of sand after receiving a phone call from a source.

He tried to intercept tractors carrying sand at Konnyyapalem, but four tractor drivers failed to stop their vehicles and proceeded towards Pusapatirega.

One tractor driver tried to run his vehicle over Muralikrishna to kill him, but the alert officer escaped with minor injuries.
 

Based on Muralikrishna's complaint, Pusaapatirega police sub-inspector Sheikh Fakhruddin registered a case under Section 332 of the Indian Penal Code and an investigation is on to nab those involved in the illegal illegal trade.
