After a high-intensity earthquake struck Nepal during the day, noted sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik today created a sand sculpture of a man in distress with a message 'Oh God, Save Nepal!' at the beach in Puri.

"I appeal to everyone through out the globe to come forward and help the victims of earthquake in Nepal," he said.

"I hope that my sculpture will encourage people from all over the world to step forward and help victims of the earthquake in Nepal and in India," the Padma awardee said.

The sculpture is five feet high and was made from five tons of sand, he added.
