Sandeep Tulsi Yadav, who created history by winning India's first-ever medal in the Greco-Roman category in the World Wrestling Championship last year, failed to repeat his feat this time around as he went down in the Round of 32 in the 66kg division here today.

Having made it to the main round of the Greco-Roman 66kg after beating Matous Morbitzer of Czech Republic 3-1, the last year's bronze medallist at Budapest failed to live up to his reputation and lost 1-3 to Azerbaijan's Hasan Aliyev in the first round of the main competition.

Another Indian in the fray today, Harpreet Singh lost his qualifying round bout in 80kg Greco-Roman to Evgeny Saleev of Russia 0-4, but he made it to the repechage round after his opponent made it to the finals.

While Harpreet did well to thwart the challenge from Jonas Bossert of Switzerland 3-1 in his first repechage, he lost to Croatia's Bozo Starcevic 0-3 in his second repechage to crash out of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Dharmender Dalal suffered a 0-5 defeat in the qualifying round of 130kg Greco-Roman at the hands of Kazakhstan's Nurmakhan Tinaliyev.
