Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump today criticised Bernie Sanders for endorsing his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton and said by supporting her the Vermont Senator has sold himself out to the former Secretary of State.

"Bernie Sanders, who has lost most of his leverage, has totally sold out to crooked Hillary Clinton. He will endorse her today - fans angry!" Trump said in a tweet hours before Sanders was to endorse Clinton at an election rally in New Hampshire.

"I am somewhat surprised that Bernie Sanders was not true to himself and his supporters. They are not happy that he is selling out!" Trump said in another tweet.

In the past few days, the real estate tycoon has said that supporters of Sanders would switch over to him.

Sanders has taken an unusually longer time to endorse Clinton, who has won Democratic presidential primary.

In a statement, Trump listed out five reasons why Sanders' supporters would not be excited about Clinton.

Sanders stance on trade stands in stark contrast to the radical, corporate globalist agenda that Clinton represents as she refuses to disavow TPP, he said.

"Sanders has said that Clinton is in the pocket of big banks, saying that wall street has been the major campaign contributor to Clinton," he alleged.

Meanwhile, the Clinton campaign in an email said that Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders have some of the best and smartest ideas they have ever heard for addressing the economic disparity of the country.

"Take student loans. Hillary and Bernie both agree that the high rate of student debt keeps thousands of bright young people from making investments or starting small businesses every year -- and our economy loses out, Lalit," said Mike Shapiro, economic policy advisor, Hillary for America.

"So together, they're fighting to make it so future students won't have to borrow a dime to go to in-state public colleges or universities. Not one dime! Instead, for students whose families make less than USD 125,000 per year, tuition at those schools should be completely free," he said.
