In view of the killing of a top bank executive allegedly by a robber, the Mumbai Police have decided to conduct the security audit of all parking lots inside malls and corporate offices, an officer said Tuesday.
The move comes in the wake of the killing of 39-year-old Siddharth Sanghvi, a vice president of the HDFC Bank.
Police have arrested the accused Sarfaraz Shaikh alias Rais, who worked at the parking bay of Kamala Mills in Central Mumbai where the victim's office is located, for allegedly stabbing Sanghvi for Rs 30,000.
"No security guard was deployed at the spot (the parking bay) where Sanghvi was attacked. There was no CCTV camera either," the officer said, adding that the incident could have been averted had there been a security guard at the location.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Deven Bharti said the police have decided to carry out the security audit of the parking lots of all the corporate offices and malls in Mumbai in view of the murder.

"All Deputy Commissioners of Police have been directed to conduct security audits of these corporate offices and malls," he said.
The DCPs will then write to corporate offices and managements of malls asking them to install CCTV cameras inside the parking areas, deploy security guards and take appropriate measures to enhance security.
"Police believe that this arrangement will help preventing any untoward incidents in future," another official said.
Sanghvi had not returned home last Wednesday after which his family had lodged a missing complaint at the N M Joshi Marg Police station in Central Mumbai.
After committing the crime, the accused stuffed the victim's body in his car and disposed it at Kalyan in the neighbouring Thane district, according to police.
