In a bid to contain infighting among Congress legislators, Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today dropped deputy chief minister Rowell Lyngdoh and health minister A L Hek to accommodate former Assembly Speaker Martin Danggo and Government Chief Whip Ronnie V Lyngdoh.

"I have submitted my recommendation for induction of two new friends - M M Danggo and Ronnie V Lyngdoh, in the cabinet," Chief Minister Sangma told reporters after his meeting the Governor V Shanmuganathan here today.

This was also the first major reshuffle by Sangma after the general elections two years ago and subsequently leading the Meghalaya United Alliance coalition government.

Former state Assembly Speaker M M Danggo and Government Chief Whip Ronnie V Lyngdoh were accommodated as new ministers in the cabinet and their swearing-in would be held tomorrow at the Raj Bhavan here.

The induction of the two senior Congress leaders came after veteran Congress legislator Rowel Lyngdoh and A L Hek resigned which was accepted by the Chief Minister.
