Congress President Sonia Gandhi, with whom Sangma is said to have sought an appointment, is unlikely to meet him, party sources said.
SP and BSP, who together have more than one lakh vote value in a college of about 11 lakh, also played the cards to their chest giving no no indication about what would do.
64-year-old Sangma, a tribal from Meghalaya who belongs to NCP and has been propped up by BJD and AIADMK, today met Orissa Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, and later appealed to political parties to support a tribal candidate.
He hoped that the parties including those of the UPA and NDA would resond to the "call of conscience" of the tribal people of the nation.
Echoing his feelings, Patanik said he would be speaking other party leaders to ensure Sangma's victory.
Meanwhile, Congress President Sonia Gandhi is unlikely to meet Sangma to whom the party is also said to be not not keen on extending any support. Sangma, a former Congressman, had revolted against the party on the issue of foreign origin of Sonia Gandhi in 1999 and formed the NCP along with Pawar.

A senior Congress leader, who declined to be identified, made it clear that the party is not not likely to back Sangma either for President's post or the Vice President.
Sources in Congress say that a decision on Presidential candidate is unlikely before the first week of June as the process of consultations was still on.
The NCP itself has already rebuffed Sangma over his moves saying the party has no no plans to support his candidature. It would go with the decision of the UPA on the President's election, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has said. (More)
