Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Legislative Council Chairman A Chakrapani today expressed grief over the demise of former Speaker of Lok Sabha P A Sangma.
"Sangma was a leader of the masses and served them well in various capacities in his long political career. As Speaker, he ran the Lok Sabha effectively," they said in separate statements here.
They conveyed condolences to Sangma's family members.
The 68-year-old politician, who was elected nine times to Lok Sabha from Tura in Meghalaya and who became the first Speaker from the North East, died in New Delhi following a massive heart attack this morning.
