Sania Mirza and Cara Black's campaign in the women's doubles event of the Australian Open ended after a close defeat against top seeded pair of Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci, here today.

Playing against the best team in the world, the sixth seed Indo-Zimbabwean pair went down fighting 2-6 6-3 4-6 in the quarter-final match that lasted close to two hours.

However, Sania's campaign in the mixed doubles event is alive as she has reached quarterfinals with Romanian partner Horia-Tecau, seeded sixth.

They will take on Pakistan's Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi and Julia Goerges from Germnay for a place in the semifinals.

Sania has won two Grand Slam titles and both have come in mixed doubles --Australian Open and French Open -- with compatriot Mahesh Bhupathi.
