Sanitary inspector arrested over graft

A sanitary inspector of the Cantonment Board of Meerut was arrested by CBI for allegedly demanding Rs 10 lakh as bribe for guaranteeing a job of a motor pump operator at the Board.

Yogesh Yadav was arrested while allegedly receiving bribe of Rs one lakh from the complainant, agency sources said.

He had allegedly put a demand of Rs 10 lakh assuring the job of motor pump operator to the complainant, they said.

"CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused which led to recovery of documents relating to six properties, a locker key and details of accounts in four banks," CBI spokesperson R K Gaur said.
 

The sources said several senior officers of the Board are also under the scanner as it is suspected that many wanted a cut of the bribe amount.
