Sanjeev Balyan visits Lower Subansiri Hydel project

Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Sanjeev Kumar Balyan today visited the 2000 mega watt Lower Subansiri Hydro-Electric Project (LSHEP) site at Gerukamukh.

The minister visited the site of the project being executed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) and was apprised of the present status by the officials led by Director (Projects) Ratish Kumar.

He also visited Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya at Kolaptukar village in Arunachal Pradesh and interacted with the students and teachers, an official communique said.

Executive director of the project Rakesh gave a detailed presentation of the project.

While interacting with the officials, Balyan expressed hope that before his next visit, the project, which has been stalled for several years due to protest by by anti-dam activists in Assam, would resume.
 

Representatives from Dhemaji district administration (Assam) and Lower Subansiri district administration were also present on the occasion, the communique added.
