A decision to this effect was taken by the Morcha here last night under the chairmanship of its convenor and former governor Surjeet Singh Barnala, said PPP supremo Manpreet Singh Badal.
Badal, the estranged nephew of Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, made it clear that Ravinder Singh Dhaliwal will be the Morcha's candidate at "any cost".
When asked about an appeal reportedly from Punjab Congress Chief Amarinder Singh urging Morcha to withdraw its candidate in favour of Congress, Manpreet said the Morcha had not received any such request.
"In fact, the Morcha will be able to provide best alternative to the people of the state," he said, adding, it would help in bringing political stability in the state.
He said both Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Congress had "miserably failed" to provide good governance and corruption-free administration to the people in the state.
He accused the ruling SAD-BJP alliance of bringing the state to bankruptcy.
SAD has fielded turncoat Joginderpal Jain against Congress nominee Vijay Sathi in the by-polls which were necessitated after Jain deserted the Congress to join the SAD.
