'Sanskrit Week' celebrations concludes

The 'Sanskrit week' which was being celebrated in all CBSE affiliated schools in which 84,000 students from different parts of the country participated in various events, concluded today.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) in collaboration with CBSE organised the valedictory function of the Sanskrit week celebrations here today.

More than 29,000 prizes were given at school level and 119 awards at national level. Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani gave away the prizers at the valedictory function here, a statement issued by the HRD Ministry said.

Awards were also given to nine teachers and nine school principals.

The Sanskrit week was being celebrated in all CBSE affiliated schools in the country from August 7 to 13.
 

Programmes organised during the week included competitions like shloka recitation of Geet Govindam and Bhagawad Gita, story-telling from the Upanishada and the Panchatantra, essay writing competition etc.

The Minister also released a supplementary reading material on Ved Parijat developed by NCERT for class XI and XII and the audio-video material consisting of value oriented short stories.
