Santhali artistes and organisations rally around Hansdah

Santhali film artistes and social organisations today rallied around popular Santhali film Director-Producer, Dasrath Hansdah.

Hansdah had lost everything including the master disc of films he had produced-directed in a fire that broke out in his ancestral house in Pudihasa, on the outskirts of steel city on May 13.

Santhali and Regional film artists as well as various tribal social organizations have decided to organize a charity show here on June seven and the proceeds will be handed out to Hansdah, C R Manjhi, General Secretary of Disom Jaher, Karandih, said today.

Manjhi told a press conference here that Dasrath has lost everything in the fire including his assets in the form of hard disc containing his several films worth over Rs. Seven lakhs.
 

Manjhi said Dasrath's super-hit Santhali movie "Aalom Re Jia Aa Sakom Sindoor" will also be screened at the show.

Dasrath rued his biggest loss was the hard disc containing half a dozen Santhali movies including the award-winning 'Sita Nala Re Sagun Supari', which was screened in the Indigenous Film Festival at Nepal in 2005, two master cassettes, spool recordings.

Among the films stored in the hard disc included "Boha Maya" (brother's affection", "Kherwal Jumid" (Unity of Tribal), "Sagun Ena Sohaag Dolar", he said.

Among others, the leading Santhali actors including Bir Baha Hansdah, Rajuraj Biruli, Lakhan Soren, Manoj Hembram, Raju Mitra, Manjula Mardi, Dusashan Sakila will perform in the charity show.
