A civic reception was accorded today to Kerala football team that lifted the 72nd Santhosh Trophy.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan presented memonto and cash award to team mebers at the reception held at the Central Stadium here.
Miniser for Sports A C Moiden, Minister for Tourism Kadakampally Surendran were among those present on the occasion.
Various sports functions were organised acrosse the state as the day was observed as 'Victory Day' to mark the winning of Santhosh Trophy by Kerala after a gap of 14 years.
Government had announced a cash award of Rs two lakh each to members of the team, defeated Bengal (4-2) in a thrilling match played at Kolkata on Sunday last.
The government had also decided to provide jobs to 11 members of the team who now unemployed.
Earlier in the day, the team members were given a warm reception by Kerala Union of Working Journalists.
