"The union government has given in-principal nod to relocation of big cats to boost population in Sariska. We now plan to relocate two tigresses to Sariska during the monsoon season," Bina Kak, the state Forest and Environment minister told reporters here today.
"It is up to the state government to identify the tigress. We have identified one tigress in Ranthambore National Park in Sawaimadhopur district and talks are going on with authorities in the state of Madhya pradesh for another one," she informed.
Kak, after a meeting of the state wildlife board, said that the relocation process may take a few days.
At present, there are five big cats in Sariska, she added.
Along with the proposal of the tiger shifting, the union government also gave its approval to set up a safari zone on forest land Ranthambore (not in the core area).
