Solar scam accused Saritha Nair today gave her in camera statement at a local court in her complaint that Congress MLA A P Abullakutty had tried to outrage her modesty.

After repeatedly skipping the court order to appear and give statement under CrPC 164 (recording of confessions and statements), Saritha gave her statement before the Judicial Magistrate here.

After the proceedings, she told reporters outside the court that she could not divulge the details of her statement as it was recorded in camera.

Saritha, who is out on bail, had lodged a sexual harassment complaint against Abdullakutty in March last.

Saritha, one of the two accused in the solar scam, had alleged that the Congress legislator from Kannur used to frequently call her on phone and even invited her to a hotel in Thiruvananthapuram.

Abdullakutty had dubbed the allegation "totally unfounded."

The solar case pertains to cheating of huge amounts of money from many people by Saritha and Biju Radhakrishnan offering them solutions for setting up solar plants.

The case assumed a serious political dimension with one of the close personal aides of chief minister Oommen Chandy getting arrested in connection with the scam.
