Owner of a Sharjah-based private firm was booked here for allegedly cheating Madhya Pradesh Flying Club to the tunes of Rs 21 lakh with regards to supply of plane engine, police said today.

The case was lodged last night based on complaint of MP Flying Club's corporate general manager, Vilas Dalvi against Sharjah resident Anand Subramaniam, who owns firm Premier Aviation, a sub-inspector of Aerodrome Police Station said.

The case was booked under section 420 (cheating) and 467 (forgery) of the IPC, the officer said.

Dalvi in the complaint alleged that that the club had ordered Subramaniam's firm in 2013 to supply an engine for Cessna aircraft and accordingly deposited Rs 21 lakh in his account.

But the engine was not delivered in the last three and Subramaniam has been dilly-dallying on it. When the club recently came to know that he has winded up his business in Sharjah, it lodged a criminal case against him.

The officer said police has initiated investigation into the matter.
