Sarpanch held in clash over land allotment in Haryana

The Sarpanch of Dharaundi village has been arrested following a clash between two groups over allotment of plots for BPL families which left a youth dead even as calm prevailed in the village.

Dharaundi village Sarpanch Mahendra alias Billu was arrested late last evening and was remanded to police custody for four days by Narwana court, SP Abhishek Jorwal said.

Search is on to nab the other accused, Jorwal added.

Many families of a particular community had fled the village after the clash on Saturday in which a youth was killed and many others were injured, police said.

Additional forces have been deployed in the village to keep the situation under control.
 

DSP Suresh Kumar and in-charge of Uchana Police Station took a stock of the situation there, they said.
