Sarpanch's husband, son booked for assaulting power dept staff

Police registered a case against the husband of Pindara village's sarpanch and their son today for allegedly beating up a power department employee who reportedly refused fill in the 'no dues' form required to contest panchayat polls in the state.

The case has been registered against sarpanch Premvati's husband Jaybir and their son Manjeet, who is junior tehsildar of Gohana village, Sadar police station in-charge Sajjan Kumar said.

Power corporation's SDO Rajeev Sharma had earlier filed complained that the two accused had allegedly beaten up lineman Sunil Kumar on September 16 while he was on duty.

The police have registered cases against the accused for beating, obstructing government servant from carrying out his duty, and threatening to kill him, the police said.
 

Police said they are investigating the case.
