Jharkhand Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy today slammed the "divided" Opposition for stalling most of the days of the just concluded Budget session, "fighting for oneupmanship".
"It was oneupmanship between the JMM (Jharkhand Mukti Morcha) and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha's (JVM) Pradip Yadav," Roy said after the Assembly adjourned sine die on the last day of the session.
He alleged that the three opposition parties had been divided over three issues - Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), land and domicile, and failed to make a concerted effort in the interest of the state.
"The (previous) Hemant Soren government had conducted JPSC examination under the same policy. Now they are against the same policy, which shows their dual character... One side while in power, another while not in power," Roy said.
The Opposition, which stalled the House for a couple of days on the JPSC issue during the session, had been divided when the Congress demanded putting the results of the 5th JPSC examination on hold and probe by any agency, while the JMM and the JVM demanded scrapping of the result and a CBI probe.
"The Congress is still suffering from a policy paralysis," Roy said, pointing at a couple of Congress MLAs joining with JMM during protests on the JPSC issue, while seniors taking a different position.
All the three opposition parties appeared divided in their blames for the disruption of the House since Monday on the twin issues of domicile and employment policies.
The Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren told reporters that the JMM's protests were proper in the face of not getting any assurances from the government.
"There should not be appointments without framing of domicile and employment policies," he said.
While the Congress held the JMM responsible for disrupting the House since Monday, Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) Legislature Party leader Pradip Yadav held both the Congress and the JMM responsible for the stalemate.
Yadav said issues related to the people could not be raised due to the disruptions.
Congress MLA and PCC chief Sukhdeo Bhagat said his party wanted the House to function and raise issues during debates, "But the JMM did not allow the House to function."
Bhagat, however, did not respond to a query on why a couple of Congress MLAs were seen joining protests with the JMM.
