Satish Kumar Agnihotri assumes office as HC judge

Justice Satish Kumar Agnihotri today assumed office as a judge of the Madras High Court here.

Justices T Mathivanan, A Arumugaswamy, K B K Vasuki, K RavichandraBabu, P Devadoss and R Karuppaiah took oath as permanent judges of the Chartered High Court here.

"I am proud to be a judge of a Chartered High Court, which was constituted on a letter of pattern issued by Queen Victoria," Justice Agnihotri said after assuming office.

Justice Agnihotri was born in a village in Patchara district of Sidhi of Madhya Pradesh in 1956 and graduated in science and post graduation in History from APS University, Rewa.
 

He later shifted to Delhi to obtain a degree in law from Delhi University in 1982. After enrolling as an advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi in August 1982, he later became a judge of Chhattisgarh High Court at Bilaspur in 2005.

Advocate General A L Somayaji and chairman of Bar Council of Tamil Nadu D Selvam also spoke during the swearing-in ceremony.
