Satyamev Jayate receives RedInk Awards

Broadcaster Star India has won the RedInk Awards for Excellence in Journalism for its issue-based reality show 'Satyamev Jayate'.

Star India CEO Uday Shankar received the Mumbai Press Club's RedInk Awards for Excellence in Journalism 2013 for its path-breaking initiative from Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari.

The award recognises the Bollywood super star Aamir Khan hosted show's contribution in highlighting social issues.

Commenting on it, Shankar said that it was Star India's modest attempt to bring to the fore challenges, which modern India continues to grapple with.

"It was an initiative to offer a public platform to issues that concern all Indians. While I am delighted to see these efforts being recognized, the focus should continue to be on the issues and all those working to make a difference," Shankar said.
 

N Ram, the former Editor-in-Chief of the Hindu and Kuldip Nayar, vetern journalist were honoured with the RedInk life Time Award by Maharashtra Governor K Sankarannarayanan.
