A court in Saudi Arabia has sentenced 18 people to prison on charges of financing terrorism, collecting information about compounds where foreigners reside, providing hideouts for fugitives and possessing unlicensed weapons.

The men, whose nationalities were not disclosed, were part of an alleged 50-member terrorist cell that launched attacks aimed at toppling the monarchy around a decade ago.

The official Saudi Press Agency reported late Yesterday that they were given sentences ranging from 10 months to 25 years behind bars. All will be allowed to appeal the verdict.

This week, the same court in the capital Riyadh sentenced 31 other people allegedly involved in the cell for their role in deadly attacks, sentencing three to death and the rest to prison.
