Saurashtra beat Tripura by 66 runs in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy

Cheteshwar Pujara smashed a superb half-century to power Saurashtra to a 66-run win over Tripura in a Group B Twenty20 match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at Nehru Stadium here today.

Pujara blasted seven fours and a six during his 57-ball innings to anchor Saurashtra to 144 for six in stipulated 20 overs. They then returned to dismiss Tripura for 78 with 15 balls to spare.

D S Punia (3/19) was the pick of the bowlers, while Jaydev Unadkat (2/21), Shaurya Sanandia (2/14) and K R Makvana (2/8) scalped two wickets each for Saurashtra.

Chasing 145 to win, Tripura suffered a complete colappse as only two batsmen -- Udiyan Bose (12) and Nirupam Sen (12) -- could reach double figures.
