Saurashtra suffered a middle-order collapse but their opening stand of 59 and handy lower-order contributions took them to 224 for 8 on the second day of their Ranji Trophy cricket match against Goa here today.

Mohsin Dodia (33) and Avi Barot (56) gave Saurashtra a solid base only for the middle order to squander it away. From 94 for 1, Saurashtra slipped to 116 for 4, before Sheldon Jackson and Arpit Vasavada made 38 each to help their team recover despite a four-wicket haul from pacer Rituraj Singh.

Kamlesh Makvana pitched in with an unbeaten 27 and number 10 Jaydev Unadkat (10 batting) hung on as Saurashtra inched closer to first-innings points.

Saurashtra now train by 15 runs in their first innings. Goa had made 239 in their first innings.

Brief Scores:

Goa 1st Innings: 239
